WELCOME TO THE ARIZONA HUNGER CAMPAIGN
Welcome to the Arizona Hunger Campaign, a new community collaborative effort to alleviate hunger in Arizona. In these tough economic times, each of us can play a role in bringing hope to those in need. The Arizona Hunger Campaign is an answer to how we together can provide vital food to those struggling with hunger.
Over 1 in 5 children in Arizona is food insecure, and many folks in our neighborhood are choosing between buying food and paying for other necessities such as rent or clothing. Food needs at large local food banks have increased 75% in the last 2 years. We as a community are joining together with the help of local food banks, corporations, faith based organizations, and individuals.
We have chosen a large goal of raising 5,000,000 pounds of food over the next 12 months. This represents 5,000,000 meals for those in need.
We welcome your involvement in making a difference in our community in the drive for 5 million. Currently as of July 15, 2010, we are at 550,910 pounds!! Our Father’s Day Food Drive raised 510,650 pounds of food for those in need.
