Did the chicken or the egg come first? It’s the age-old question. The answer is still uncertain, but on Tuesday, March 29,  2011, the Arizona Hunger Campaign and Lift Up America helped sponsor an event at St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance in  Phoenix to search for more clues…

Hickman’s Family Farms & Tyson Chicken made a huge donation to help feed hungry people in the Valley of 54,000 eggs    and 30,000 lbs. of chicken. Hickman’s claimed that its egg delivery truck arrived just ahead of the Tyson chicken delivery  truck, but other witnesses claim that it was a photo finish. Well, I guess we will have to keep searching for answers!

In December, 2010, AHC partnered with Arizona State University, Tyson Food, Food City and many other vendors to pack food boxes for over 3,000 families.  108,000 lbs. of  food was distributed as part of the Cena En El Barrio program at five Food City locations. This distribution of food was given to needy families all over the Valley and was a huge success!

In conjunction with the Luis Palau Season of Service, November 2010 was designated Hunger Month, and local churches collected food for local and international relief. The food drive for local relief raised 56,073 lbs. of  food!
